The superior grade tarps by Rock Tarps are made from a tight 8×10 sq inch polyethylene weave which provides durability. This method of manufacture gives you a long lasting cover that is lightweight and easy to handle. Rock Tarps further enforce their tarps with border piping to insure stronger ends to avoid tears during stressful application. Supplied with built-in grommets every 34″ allow for secure tie-downs as well. Tarps can be used as protection for boats, cars or motor vehicles, providing shelter from the elements, ie., wind, rain or sunlight for campers, as an emergency roof patch material for homeowners, as a temporary pickup truck bed cover, and for a ground or drop sheet. No matter
Question: will this work as a ground cover sheet for outdoor camping without a tent?
Answer: Yes, a tarp can be used as a temporary ground cover cloth for camping purposes. Based upon personal experience, though, I would recommend plenty of padding be placed beneath your sleeping bag, simply because humid air, or dew, can condense upon the tarp and that dampness can be felt through thin layers of cloth fabric … see more
Question: What’s the weight of this 15′ x 15′ tarp? It says 3.5 oz / sq yard, which by my calculations would put it at 5.5 lbs, but in the description says 3.7
Answer: It isn’t all that heavy. I’d say the 3.7 is closer to the real weight. I’ve had mine for about a year and it has proven an asset for covering larger items. I used it to cover my 12′x14′ shed while it was being built.
Question: would this be able to use for a fish pond?
Answer: I bought a tarp with 6 mil strength and, so far, it has been exposed to outdoor elements for several months and it has endured well through wind gales, hail, sleet and icy rain. Normally, I prefer tarps that have 11 or high mills for strength, but the tarp I bought has surprised me because of its endurance. A pond, … see more
Question: tarp hold down
Answer: I just use cheap little tent stakes like these to hold it down. Works just fine.
